The Twilight Isles
A strange, magical place, this archipelago between the Theidran mainland and the Island of Elvenholme is home to many fey creatures. In fact, the islands are coterminous with the Feywild itself, and shift and change, fading in and out of the mortal realm except where the powerful magics of the Eladrin and other Fey races anchor them to this realm.
No stories tell of how the Twilight Isles first came into the waking world, but sailors know them to be unpredictable, and so carefully chart the few stable islands amid the shifting mass. Despite the strangeness of the region, the passage through the Twilight Isles – the “Twilight Run” as experienced sailors call it – is a favorite route of pirates and smugglers, because it is almost never patrolled by the Arkhosian or Turathi navies.
While a few of the islands are stable and permanent, most shift between the feywild and the mortal realm, while others seem to move around. Occasionally, previously unknown islands will fade into reality. These islands are often uninhabited, but sometimes, an island will bring its occupants with it, whether it be small native tribes, or an outpost of an established Fey civilization. The Eladrin of the Isles do their best to minimize conflict, but fighting occasionally breaks out between new arrivals and passing ships, or even other islands.
